Special paint options require special care to maintain the look of your vehicle as the manufacturer intended.

When you spec your new vehicle, colour is one of the most important details. This can make or break the overall feel of the vehicle's aesthetic.

Optional paint choices can vary. Some manufacturers offer glossy pearl variants, whilst some also offer a choice of matte or satin, or even chrome, finishes. Paint options can range from £2,000 up to £100,000 depending on manufacturer.

Spending a lot of money on a paint option is just the beginning of the car care journey. To protect your new car's paint the best and most effective option on the market is Paint Protection Film (PPF). You can find out more about Paint Protection Film we offer here: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Satin paints, such as on the Mercedes G-Wagon above, need to be protected from day one and maintained using the correct detailing products and methods. Without this, you're in great danger of ruining the paint finish that you have just spent a lot of money selecting.

Satin paints, like the G-wagon, can cost £15,000-£20,000 to spec. If you are unlucky enough to scratch the paintwork, it is incredibly difficult to remove the damage without diminishing the finish as a result of machine polishing. A by-product of machine polishing to remove scratches is gloss. If you have a satin or matte finish, this becomes a nightmare situation.

The same stress factor applies to stone chips. Satin paints are very hard to match perfectly, and application of a simple touch-up method becomes a challenge even for a professional detailing company near you. You do not have the option to sand and polish the touch-up area, for the reasons mentioned above.

To avoid any unwelcome situation where you have damaged your special paint option, PPF will enable you to have a chance at simply replacing the PPF to the damaged panel. Under intense heat self-healing PPF, such as STEK, will also aid keeping the cars presentation scratch free.

To make life easier when it comes to maintaining your PPF, a specific matte or satin ceramic coating should be applied. The water behaviour on the car will help prevent traffic film and general road grime sticking to the body. As a result it will stay cleaner for longer, and make the maintenance process of cleaning the car much easier.

However the care doesn't stop there. Detailing products with gloss enhancers are a big no! Stick to PH neutral balanced shampoo's and dedicated satin/matte products where possible to reduce the chance of diminishing the finish.
